Bartleby the Scrivener

Giclée Print 841 x 1189 mm, edition of 10

Bartlebly-The-Scrivener

The multi – media installation at Temple Works in Leeds was inspired by Herman Melville’s Kafkaesque short story of the same name and my impressions during a studio residency at Beaver Street New York, an old building in the midst of Wall street with a window looking out on tiny office cubicles. In Melville’s story the man died of starvation, but in my installation the story takes another turn and Bartleby manages to escape through the window leaving traces of his presence behind.
